MARIPOSA MOUNTAIN RIDER'S
"RUN FOR THE GOLD" ENDURANCE RIDE
25 & 50 Miles * June 25, 2005

1. Horses must be at least four (4) years old for the 25 miler and at least five (5) years old for the 50milers.
2. Mares in foal will not be permitted.
3. Horses must be shod or use hoof protection.
4. Abuse of the horse and the use of stimulants or pain killers is prohibited. ALL horses are subject to saliva and / or urine
tests.
5. JUNIOR RULING: A JUNIOR is a rider under the age of 16 as of January 1, 2005, and MUST be accompanied by a
competent adult sponsor and finish within ONE MINUTE of that sponsor.
6. The same horse and rider must pass all control points and stay on the marked trail.
7. THERE WILL BE NO TIES!
8. Horses must stand all Vet Inspections, and the opinions of the Veterinarians are final.
9. Failure to start at the designated time will disqualify the horse and rider.
10. The ride must be completed in 6 hours for the 25 miler and 12 hours for the 50 miler.
11. All horses must be presented for a pre-ride Veterinary inspection between the hours of 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM on Friday,
June 24th at the "Circle 9 Ranch" campsite. ARRANGEMENTS MUST BE MADE FOR LATE ARRIVAL.
12. All horses and riders must be at the starting line and prepared to begin the ride at 6:00 AM for the 50 milers and 6:30 AM for
the 25 milers.
13. A violation of any of the rules will be subject to immediate disqualificatin of the horse and rider.
14. NO SMOKING allowed while riding the trail at any time, or on the roads marked for the ride. Smoking will be permitted only
at designated areas. This rule will be enforced by the ride officials and the U.S. Forest Service.
15. Each rider must record IN and OUT of all control points. The responsibility for recording IN and OUT rests with the rider.
16. Hikers have the right-of-way at all times. Any entry who does not show caution and courtesy when passing hikers will be
disqualified from the ride.
17. Horses MUST be kept under control at all times. Any horse endangering horses, riders, or anyone along the trail is subject
to immediate disqualification.
18. All horses, with the entered rider, must finish the ride at the designated finish line and present their horse for post ride
examination in order to receive an award.
19. Any UNSPORTSMANLIKE conduct to either riders or horses or ride workers will result in disqualification.
20. All decisions made by Ride Management are FINAL.
21. AERC will record points and mileage for AERC members as described in the current rule book.
22. ONLY Competing horses will be allowed on the trail during the ride. (i.e. NO Pace Horses)
23. In the Limited Distance ride (25 miler) we will award a Top Horse Award. Any horse who finishes the limited distance 25
miler ride in the allowed time will be eligible for this award. Remember, the LD horses complete the ride when they meet the
finishing criteria, not in the order they cross the finish line.
